Looking to shake up your date night routine? Alvin & Friends offers a charming dinner setting to enjoy the summer weather, with expertly prepared fried chicken and new French doors that open to a shaded patio and release the sounds of live jazz.
The popular New Rochelle restaurant reopened earlier this year in a new, bigger location with a bar seating and stunning communal table for casual dining, as well as a main dining room with 65 seats and room for private parties. The menu is Southern contemporary and Caribbean, with dishes like cornmeal-crusted fried oysters, jerk-rubbed duck breast and a renowned fried chicken.
There are several fun, new summer specials, like the three course menu available from Tuesday through Thursday for $29. The meal includes an appetizer (choice of Black Bean Soup or House Salad), entrée (fried chicken, fried catfish or braised oxtail) and a dessert (chocolate cake or red velvet bread pudding). And on Wednesday nights Alvin & Friends has wine specials, with three select bottles available for $20 each, and Thursday night is Ladies Night, with $6 cocktails and special appetizers.
Live music is key to the ambiance, and their August calendar is stacked with jazz and acoustic folk-rock groups.
Beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 17 Alvin & friends restaurant welcomes the Mark Dodge Trio, with Pierre Piscitelli on keys, Phil Palombi on bass and Mark Dodge on drums, playing jazz music by Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and more. And from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21 MadJams will perform, a mellow acoustic band playing familiar light rock-folk tunes. The group features Madalyn Barbero Jordan and Robert Monteleone on vocals and guitar, and Jeff Wiegand on harmonica.
The weather won’t stay this lovely for long. Now is the time to take advantage of all the lovely outdoor dining options the area has to offer.
