TJN 1127 mixed case wrap up

LoHud Wine of the Week

2007 T’Jara reserve Red: Push any preconceptions of New York wines out of your head. This bold Merlot blend is full of dark and red fruits like plum, cherry and blackberry. Drinks like a nice Northern California-based wine with its rich style and lingering finish. Region: North Fork, Long Island. Price: $36. Goes with: Steaks, grilled lamb chops. Why I chose it: The bold style and incredible quality of this wine is personified by the people of New York.

This is Bottle No. 2 in our seventh series. More recommendations: food.lohudblogs.com/category/mixed-case.

For 12 weeks, we feature a wine, and include tasting notes and suggestions for pairings. At the end of the 12 weeks, we’ll review our Mixed Case, and recap the choices. Each mixed case will be chosen by a local wine shop owner, who will also become our wine expert-in-residence during his or her tenure. (So should we need recommendations for a holiday, for example. we’ll ask.) We’ll get a new expert for each case. Right now, we’re working on our Mixed Case chosen by Stu Levine of Vino 100 in White Plains.

  1. thanks liz for your glowing review of our t’jara vineyards ’07 reserve! we very much appreciate your comments.

the ’07 reserve, along with our ’07 merlot, were our first releases after years of selling top-quality red fruit to wineries throughout long island, the hudson valley and upstate new york, the northeast and canada.

while t’jara vineyards remains one of the premium producers of red fruit on long island, we now release a merlot, a cab franc, a petit verdot and a reserve blend [only in peak years] from our vineyard in mattituck, long island.
