The Inn at Pound Ridge, the Westchester venture for world-renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, is finally opening in January 2014.
UPDATE: The restaurant is opening Tuesday, Jan. 21. Here is a link to the most recent story: Jean-Georges Vongerichten to open Tuesday in Pound Ridge.
In a recent interview with Bedford Magazine, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who has a home in Waccabuc, revealed some of the details about the much anticipated opening. In two other interviews—The New Potato and Food Republic—he has referred to the restaurant as ABC Country. We are awaiting confirmation on the name.
In the kitchen will be husband and wife team Blake and Melody Farrar. Both have experience with Jean-Georges — Blake Farrar at The Mark by Jean-Georges, and pastry chef Melody at ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina. (See food editor Liz Johnson’s visit to ABC Kitchen here and ABC Cocina here.)
The historic building, formerly the home of Emily Shaw’s Inn, required major renovations. Architect Thomas Juul-Hansen, also responsible for the design of Vongerichten’s restaurants Perry Street and Jean-Georges, took on the project. Expect clean lines and rustic textures that suit modern country setting, with reclaimed wood ceilings, vintage silverware and comfortable chairs for long, lingering meals.
The fare will be farm-to-table, with a flexible menu to suit the seasons.
