Must Try Dish of the Week: Wild Salmon at Mima Vinoteca, Irvington

Mima Vinoteca in Irvington is like that band you’ve loved for years, and then get mad when everyone else finds out about it.

The setting is charming and romantic, the food is unassuming and delicious. And best of all? It’s the kind of place you can meander into for a last minute date night.

The name is an homage to the wonderful Italian grandmothers of the world, so it’s fitting that everything at Mima from the intimate tables to the creamy polenta is homey and warm. We like the wild salmon: rustic and flavorful, bright with sweet pomegranate seeds. The pan-seared filet is served on a bed of mushroom barlotto and topped with wilted kale and garnished with a persimmon reduction.
