Chef Alex Sze at Juniper in Hastings-on-Hudson does seasonal in a way that manages to be original, homey and without that farm-to-table-bandwagon feeling.
His American bistro menu changes as produce moves in and out of season, but the popular beef brisket burger has a confident spot on both the lunch and dinner lists. Made with ground brisket and topped with melted Gruyere, sweet roasted tomato, charred onions and Boston lettuce, it’s served with a housemade mustard aioli and a handsome order of fries, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Add bacon for an additional $2, you won’t regret it. And pair it with, well, whatever you like: Juniper is BYO.
