Daphne Everett has lived in Pound Ridge for years, and always felt the quaint shops in Scott’s Corner lacked something: a place to sit down with a friend for a really good latte and a scone.
The Kitchen Table in Pound Ridge is only one month old, but it already feels like a locals-only gem. You’ll find mothers with young kids nibbling on Nutella crepes, women sipping cappuccinos and couples grabbing a quick breakfast wrap to start the day. On the run? The Kitchen Table makes smoothies and yogurt cups with granola to go.
A long counter is flanked by dark knotty wood is staffed by charming baristas, offering plates of fresh scones, muffins and pastries. And a mix of rustic and sleek design accessories like hanging pendant lamps, shiny pewter stools and tables for lingering makes the space homey and casual, but still stylish — like a Park Slope coffee shop on a weekend getaway.
Everett says she originally envisioned something similar to Smile To Go, a gourmet sandwich shop and bakery in Soho, but for now is just getting a feel for what already loyal customers are looking for, which includes a fun tavern menu on weekend evenings that showcases craft beer, wines by the glass and small plates. There’s also a nice selection of artisanal goodies for sale like honey, maple syrup, handmade soaps and more.
