lohud Wine of the Week

TJN 0827 mixed caseKarine Lauverjat Sancerre Rose 2013: This delicate rosé, made from 100 percent pinot noir, offers notes of bright, fresh strawberries, red apple, and raspberry on the nose followed by a hint of salinity. The palate reveals a soft texture, bright acidity, and notes of strawberries and minerality. This wine is a true example of classic Sancerre terroir. Region: Loire Valley, France. Price: $18.99. Goes With: This wine makes an excellent companion to shellfish, salads, white fish, goat cheese, pizza, caramelized onions, and, of course, the beach! Why we chose it: Nothing complements a warm summer day better than a crisp, refreshing rosé. For those who are fans of pinot noir and looking for something refreshing or with a slight chill, that still has complexities and subtleties, this is the perfect choice.

This is Bottle No. 1 in our 10th series.

For 12 weeks, we feature a wine, and include tasting notes and suggestions for pairings. At the end of the 12 weeks, we’ll review our Mixed Case, and recap the choices. Each mixed case will be chosen by a local wine shop owner, who will also become our wine expert-in-residence during his or her tenure. (So should we need recommendations for a holiday, for example. we’ll ask.) We’ll get a new expert for each case. Right now, we’re working on our Mixed Case chosen by Tracy Maxon and J.J.
