Mom’s Apple Pie from The Pie Lady & Son: Must-try Dish of the Week

Slice into an apple pie from The Pie Lady & Son’s and you might get a quick burst of nostalgia you weren’t expecting.

Made with the same basic ingredients that generations before us used to make a perfect pie— unbleached flour, cane sugar, sweet butter, a bit of salt and plenty of fresh fruit— this token American dessert has a delightfully flaky crust over sweet and sticky, warm apples. Slices or whole pies (available in seven or ten-inch) are available in the Nyack shop or at various local farmers markets.

Apple pie goes hand-in-hand with corn on the cob, barbecue and a glass of rosé— start a backyard baseball game and you’d be right in the middle of Norman Rockwell painting. It doesn’t get more American than this.
