Yonkers is shaking up a new signature cocktail for the city. One that emanates the hipster, Hoboken-esque vibe that city officials and business owners hope to spread.

Want to sample the contenders? Six participating restaurants have created cocktails for the Generation Yonkers competition, including Zuppa, X2O, Dolphin and pinch at Empire City. Visit, sip and then head to Twitter and Instagram to cast a vote for your favorite.

Voting will take place on social media until September 3, when a panel of judges will step up and also choose their favorite. To vote for the People’s Choice Award follow @GenYonkers, tag them in your tweet and use #GenYCocktail and the restaurant handle or hashtag listed below.

Participating restaurants will be offering buy-one-get-one-free vouchers to people who attend any of the BID’s free summer concert series each Friday through August. Vouchers can be downloaded at GenerationYonkers.com.

“We have it all here in Yonkers,” said Mayor Mike Spano at the kickoff event. “A city work live, work and play.”
