Every year The Daily Meal, a national hub for all things food and drink, publishes a list of the 101 Best Pizzas in America. A panel of 77 judges spread out across the states whittled down a list of more than 700 pizzas to a final 101, and two of Westchester’s finest made the cut: Sal’s in Mamaroneck for the Sicilian slice, and Pelham Pizza in Pelham for the sausage variety.
Frank Pepe’s flagship location in New Haven tops the list, but not surprisingly, New York dominated overall, with 35 of the country’s top pizzas. Brooklyn boasts 13 winners with stars like Roberta’s, Grimaldi’s and Franny’s, topping Manhattan’s 11 winners that include Joe’s in Greenwich Village and Lombardi’s on Spring Street. Colony Pizza in nearby Stamford was also named, along with several New Haven pizzas worth a trip.
