BJ’s Brewhouse in Nanuet: Dining Scene

0

There’s at least a dozen new beers to try in Nanuet now that weren’t ever available locally.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse opened its first location in New York at The Shops at Nanuet Feb. 2.

One of 154 locations nationwide, this new 8,215-square-foot outpost is on the corner near P.F. Chang’s China Bistro.

BJ’s is known for deep-dish pizza loaded with toppings that vary from asparagus and goat cheese to spiced artichoke hearts and housemade meatballs.

The restaurant is also known for the Pizookie dessert. Think saucer-sized cookies (chocolate chunk, white chocolate macadamia nut and peanut butter are the classics) baked in a deep dish, topped with two scoops of creamy vanilla bean ice cream.

The company began in Santa Ana, California, in 1978, and the first BJ’s brewery began production in 1996.

BJ’s nabbed master brewer Michael Ferguson, host of the Emmy-nominated “Beer Geeks” TV show, to be the company’s director of brewery operations. He put 37 beers and two ciders on tap, 10 to 13 of which are BJ’s-brewery beers. The Brewhouse Blonde is the No. 1 seller.
