Craft House in Suffern: Dining Scene

0

Poutine, cheesy onion soup in beer broth, short rib grilled cheese, fried pickles, turkey and brie sandwiches— your winter comfort food, oh yeah, it’s all there.

Then there’s the seasonal, local beer at Craft House, which opened in Suffern in January.

Think North River coffee porter from Wappingers Falls, Peekskill Hop common lager and Kuka banana nut brown ale from the Andean Brewery in Blauvelt.

“We’re really focusing on local craft beer and local food,” said co-owner and sommelier Robert Beckert, former RoCCA manager and mixologist at Grand Central’s Oyster Bar. “We’re fresh, farm to table, not frozen to table.”

The other owner is chef Craig Levy, who opened Rocca in Glen Rock, New Jersey, almost 11 years ago.

Craft House seats about 90 people in the dining rooms and 16 at the bar. It’s open daily, using the same menu for lunch and dinner. Happy hour is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
