Sorrel Sauce: Seasonal Chef Recipe

This very quick sauce can be put together in a snap. It’s perfect with lamb, chicken and even fish. I originally used it with a lamb kofta kebab I picked up at Whole Foods. The combination of Middle Eastern spices and the lemony sauce where perfect. Click┬áthis link to read more about Sorrel.

Sorrel Sauce

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 1 1/2 cups

Sorrel Sauce

You can use red veined or plain green sorrel for this recipe. It's perfect not only with grilled proteins, but also with grilled vegetables too.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons of shallot minced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chives, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup sorrel, very thinly sliced, chiffonade
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Kosher salt
  • Ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl along with 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper. Taste for seasoning and add additional salt and pepper as desired.

Sorrel Sauce
Makes about 1 1/2 cups

1 cup plain Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons of shallot minced
