Fairway Firefighter Food Face-Off, July 12 Firefighters have a reputation as great cooks, and on July 12 all seven volunteer fire departments in Clarkstown will compete in Fairway’s Firehouse Food Face-Off to determine whose barbecue is best.

The competition will run from noon to 3 p.m. on July 12, rain or shine, at Fairway Market at the Shops at Nanuet. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature music, food, giveaways and of course, fire trucks.

A panel of judges will choose the winning team at 2 p.m.. In addition to bragging rights, the winning firehouse will be given a $500 Fairway Gift Card and a shopping night at Fairway Market to benefit the charity of their choice. Additionally, Fairway promises to donate 25 percent of sales from registered shoppers on the designated shopping night to the winning department’s chosen charity.

Participants: Clarkstown Fire Departments: Central Nyack, Congers, Nanuet, New City, Rockland Lake, Valley Cottage and West Nyack Fire Departments.
When: Noon to 3 p.m., rain or shine, Sunday, July 12.
Where: Fairway Market (at The Shops at Nanuet), 75 West Route 59, Nanuet.
