Westchester Farmhouse Ale Competition seeks homebrewers

Westchester Farmhouse Ale CompetitionIt’s time to take that homebrewing hobby to the next level.

Harper’s in Dobbs Ferry and Yonkers Brewing Co. are collaborating to host the Westchester Farmhouse Ale Competition to find the next great local craft beer.

To be considered, all beer must be in the style of a modern Farmhouse Ale (sometimes called a saison), which are typically cloudy pale ales that taste fruity, a bit spicy and finish dry.  The contest is free to enter and the registration deadline is August 15.westchester farmhouse ale competition

The grand prize winner will have their beer brewed by Yonkers Brewing Co. and distributed locally in Westchester. Additional prizes will be awarded for people’s choice, brewer’s choice and Harper’s choice. All brewers are required to provide at least four gallons of beer on the day of the event, October 11, as well as samples seven days prior for panel judging.

If you’re looking to sample some farmhouse ales in the meantime, we recommend Hennepin from Brewery Ommegang or Brooklyn Sorachi Ave by Brooklyn Brewery.

How to register: Call or email Harper’s, 914-693-2306 or info@harpersonmain.com.
